I&#039;m beginning to think through &quot;saptient&quot; interpretations of the Bible and the role of that old word, &quot;illumination.&quot;  It seems that the academic / scientific / procedural investigation of scripture has an anti-supernatural bias that pastor-scholars could help overcome.  

Also, it seems that the recent movement toward &quot;theological interpretation&quot; (Trier, Vanhoozer, and others) moves the hermeneutic into a  pastor-scholar&#039;s sweet spot.</description>
